NoHo’s Wall Art Begins at Houston St.
The epitome of NoHo’s wall art is probably at Bowery and Houston. The inspiration for this long-running mural showcase was Keith Haring who painted an original mural, of international regard, in that location in the late 1970s. When the Goldman Foundation acquired the wall it was their mission to include established and emerging street artists from the United States and around the world who would depict messages of hope, possibility and inspiration to audiences of broad taste.
But NoHo’s wall art doesn’t end at Bowery-Houston. We recently captured much that conveys NoHo’s eclectic reputation for artistic expression, from elaborate grafitti to decoupage to tromp l’oeil to wall sculpture. We hope it will continue.
