383 Lafayette to become NYU administrative offices in as-of-right use.
383 Lafayette St. NYU will be renovating 383 Lafayette which will include internal renovation, facade work, and a building addition in the parking lot behind it for as-of-right office use. NYU anticipates starting construction in the late Fall. Upon completion, the building will be home to various administrative offices. It was previously planned for Theater and Theater-Arts workshop use by the Tisch School of the Arts which is now looking to develop a more adaptable site, potentially on the NYU Superblocks.
There will be outreach and meetings with NoHo and the residents of East 4th St. beginning this Fall to review the plans, design and construction schedule (as much as can be known at this time). We do not anticipate any FAR bonus. The additional building on the empty lot and any additions to the existing 383 Lafayette will require Landmarks review and approval. Ennead Architects (formerly Polshek Partnership) is working on the design.
