NoHo Fund for East Village Fire Victims

Fund for East Village Fire VictimsWith the aide of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, we have set up a fund for East Village Fire Victims, through Network for Good.

As we are all aware, on March 26th, 2015 the devastating explosion at 121 Second Avenue destroyed three buildings and compromised the stability of others surrounding.  As reported by The Low Down NY “People who live in 144 apartments spread across 11 buildings were displaced by the disaster. About 30 people have been provided temporary housing by the city.”  The injury count stands at 22; four people remain hospitalized in critical condition, two have died and many others face an uncertain future as they attempt to find replacement for their rent-stabilized housing.

The Fund for East Village Fire Victims is set up through Two Bridges Neighborhood Council and LES Ready  who have been on the ground from the beginning aiding victims with counselling, immediate assistance, filings, access to physical and mental rehabilitation.  The details are endless.  With their help we can get funds for immediate needs, distributed at their discretion, to the those most affected and compromised, until more substantial long-term assistance is available.

It does “take a village” and we would be proud to have you join us to be part of a Village that cares.  Lend a hand to our neighbors and contribute what you can to the East Village Fund.  You can choose to check our progress on the Network for Good site and contribute again, when you can, it’s tax deductible.  You will receive immediate confirmation of your donation.

Thanks.
