New Broadway Lafayette Station

Rendering of new Broadway Lafayette Station

Construction work look-ahead for January (Received Feb. 1, 2011)

In mid-January, the traffic pattern for Houston Street between Broadway and Mott Street will be modified in accord with our NYC Department of Transportation permits. The revised traffic pattern will include three westbound vehicular travel lanes and two eastbound vehicular travel lanes on Houston Street adjacent to our work locations.

Along Lafayette Street, north of Houston Street, we will continue to maintain two vehicular travel lanes adjacent to our work locations. Barricades and equipment associated with this project have been removed from the south side of Houston Street.

Construction work on the north side of Houston Street will progress as follows:

North side of Houston Street between Lafayette and Crosby Streets (site of street-level elevator) Continue excavation and elevator shaft construction.

North side of Houston Street between Lafayette and Mulberry Streets  Begin excavation for the extension of the northbound IRT platform and renovation of the east mezzanine.

Lafayette Street north of Bleecker Street  Work at the northwest corner of Lafayette Street at Bleecker Street is currently scheduled to begin in May 2011.

*All work is scheduled to be performed during daytime work hours unless otherwise noted.
