Retail Space
After what seemed at times to be an epic negotiation, from both sides, Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria should be fully open soon, with 6,400 sq ft space for a restaurant and shop and bread baking facility with a maximum capaciy of 155 people, but no open roof-top dining, closing at midnight Sunday through Thursday and 1 am Friday and Saturday, plus a sidewalk cafe with 16 seats and 8 tables and a full liquor license.
For now, the front retail shop and light menu space selling homemade salumi, artisanal cheeses, imported olive oils and gourmet chocolates is operating. When complete it will house a lower diningroom

with an open kitchen, wood-burning oven and winebar in the back and a fully enclosed upper diningroom overlooking a landscaped roof-top.
The original plan presented in early 2010 was not nearly as extensive or complex, though the community agreed then, as it does now, that Donna Lennard’s special touches to Italian-Mediterranean cuisine will certainly be a distinctive addition to the plentiful offerings of NoHo.
Mechanicals
The issue of roof-top noise and kitchen odors was perhaps the most difficult piece to solve, but with Il Buco’s cooperation and solid agreement in place with the neighboring property owners that will provide additional sound and odor abatement as necessary for the extensive mechanicals, there is every opportunity for everyone to live happily everafter.
