NoHo and The Bowery have been remarkably fortunate to have suffered so little in comparison to many neighborhoods in New York City, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t or can’t be involved in helping with NYC recovery. Here’s a list of locally based efforts, as of today:
If you have some time this afternoon, Brad Hoylman has organized a number of recovery assistance projects, among them assistance for Westbeth Artists Housing, 55 Bethune Street, corner of Washington Street:
The residents of Westbeth are still without heat, running water and functioning elevators. Today, once again, in coordination with our elected officials we are seeking volunteers to run a “bucket brigade” to bring water and other supplies to Westbeth residents on upper floors.
How you can help: Show up at 4 p.m. at Westbeth (55 Bethune Street, between Washington and West Streets). And wear comfortable shoes to climb stairs.
The Aicon Gallery is hosting a V.I.P. Preview and Opening Reception for Jamini Roy & Somnath Hore: Figuration in the Bengal School on Tuesday, November 6th, 6:00-8:00pm. Since it is Election Night guests are also invited to preview the early polling results live on their big screen as you relax and enjoy an evening of cocktails and art. They will be donating a portion of all exhibition sales to the Red Cross Relief Fund to help those still in need after the storm. You may still be able to make a reservation here.
